Galaxy Zoo
Perform astronomy on your Android phone! Galaxy Zoo uses gorgeous imagery of hundreds of thousands of galaxies drawn from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope archive. To understand how these galaxies, and our own, formed we need your help to classify them according to their shapes — a task at which your brain is better than even the most advanced computer. This app needs an internet connection every so often but is designed to work offline by saving galaxy photos to the SD card. When online and logged into Galaxy Zoo with the app, your answers are uploaded to the main system (periodically).
The app can also be used in practice mode. It’s a good idea to start this way because classifying can be challenging. The photos that produced the images in this app were obtained from telescopes (i.e. Hubble) at or near their maximum power. While sometimes small and difficult to discern, these are the best images we have of these incredibly distant galaxies.
Solar Max
Download the latest images from the NASA/ESA SOHO satellite. Why stare at the Sun? Solar Max downloads the latest images from the NASA/ESA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory to your phone.

Satellite AR

Point your phone at the sky and see actual satellites flying overhead.
Ever wondered what satellites are flying above your head when you look up? This app will show them to you using augmented reality. Point your phone’s camera to the sky, and small icons track the locations of various satellites. Those in sunlight are colored yellow to help you look for them on a clear night.
Messier Objects (Gratis)

This app helps you to record and keep track of your Messier Objects findings.
This astronomy app lets you record and keep track of your night sky findings of the Messier Objects.
It can now link directly to the Google Sky Map, which allows you to find where your favorite Object is!
Press menu in the page of the target Messier Object, then choose “Find in Google Sky Map”.
(Linking to Google Sky Map is an experimental feature as there is not yet any public API available and we only hack the way out!)
